Balaknama – a newsletter for and by street connected children
After their formation, Badhte Kadam soon realized that there was a need to give a voice to street connected children. They wanted to bring their issues and concerns, so often neglected by society, to the forefront of the public agenda.
Their response to this was the world renowned Balaknama, the world’s first newsletter for and by street connected children. The first edition of Balaknama was published in the year 2003 in Hindi. Today it is published monthly in both Hindi and English with over 4,000 copies of each issue distributed.
On 12th April 2016, Balaknama was awarded by the Limca Book of Records as the first Hindi newsletter brought out by street children.
